Collective Support: Facilitator
THE OPPORTUNITY
Collective Support is a 12-month affinity-based cohort experience tailored to the leadership and social emotional growth of site leaders of color. MindCatcher is seeking facilitators to support Collective Support participants in achieving their leadership and wellness goals. Participants in this community; 1) engage in mindset training and consultancies; 2) co-design and document strategies to address a challenging problem of practice impacting their ability to effectively create bold, generative learning environments for youth in their own mindset playbook and 3) thought-partner with like-minded education leaders.

- Facilitating Collective Support, a cohort-based leadership and wellness experience with school and after-school site leaders serving learning environments with a majority of youth of color
- Supporting Youth Learning Lab, cross-site collaborations advancing youth decision-making ability
- Enabling Young People Lead, a whole school approach to accelerating youth-led learning
- Designing tools, custom retreats and workshops to support the leadership and social emotional growth of school communities and education organizations

- Facilitate a combination of Mindset Intensive, Consultancy and Reflection sessions
- Modify content in alignment with MindCatcher’s values and Mindset Framework
- Conduct 3-4 site assessments and staff-facing professional developments
- Participate in weekly team syncs to update and adjust programming to be responsive to the needs of Collective Support participants
- Develop and implement site assessment tools for supporting participants
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Collective Support participants
- Stay abreast of adult learning and leadership development best practices, particularly for people of color
- Support consistent participant engagement with the Collective Support community
CORE OUTCOMES
- Ensure 100% of Collective Support participants clearly articulate a focus question and develop 2-3 strategies to address their focus question
- Ensure 80% of participants complete Collective Support
- Direct and collaborate with Collective Support intern to devise and implement strategies to ensure participants miss no more than 2 sessions
- You are passionate about creating and facilitating generative learning spaces for adults, with a demonstrated experience and knowledge of equity-based strategies for building community with educators/leaders. You deeply understand that in order for adults to best serve young people, their wellness needs to be prioritized and supported.
- You have a can-do spirit and embrace continuous learning. You exude passion for our work. You adapt quickly and understand new and changing information. You are undaunted by difficult tasks and resourceful in your approach to overcoming challenges. You are responsive and organized.
- You have exceptional listening and communication skills. You speak and write clearly and concisely. You don’t take 20 minutes to say what can be communicated in 2 minutes. You let others speak and seek to understand their point of view. You hear what is said and unsaid. You build time into projects to include the voices that are often not heard, centered, or prioritized. You are able to synthesize information quickly and deftly connect the dots.
- You are flexible and adaptable. You are comfortable with ambiguity and successful at charting a path of success through, at times, conflicting priorities while being responsive to client needs. You are proactive and have an ability to maneuver through start-up culture and growth stages.
- Humility is a core part of your DNA. You listen well and make others feel seen and heard. You are intentional about building relational trust and genuinely value the expertise and perspectives of others. You recognize that each relationship is an opportunity for a learning partnership that is mutually beneficial and upends paternalistic power dynamics.
We are seeking candidates who have decision-making leadership experience, excel in relationship-building, are results-oriented, and have strong project management skills. You should have:
- An advanced degree in an education, research, ethnic/urban studies, or related field
- 5+ years of experience facilitating adult learning, professional development, etc.
- Advanced Microsoft Office, Google Suite and Zoom skills, with an ability to become familiar with additional technology and software as needed
- A demonstrated commitment to meeting a high bar and a history of meeting objectives even in the face of obstacles
WHAT ELSE YOU SHOULD KNOW
This is a part-time, remote contract position. Training will begin mid- January 2022. This cohort of Collective Support will run from February 2022 - May 2023. Program time commitment will vary and be no more than 3-5 hours/week. This contractor will be paid approximately $100/hour.
