ASELA: Project Coordinator
THE OPPORTUNITY
MindCatcher will collaboratively develop the Adult Social Emotional Learning Assessment (ASELA), a Myers-Briggs type tool that will support more holistic decision-making for educators, while also helping to improve their overall practice and well-being. With ASELA, educators will be able to better support the social, emotional and academic health of young people ages 8-13, particularly those that identify as Black and Latinx. In this project, funded by AERDF and overseen by Assessment for Good, our aim is to better understand the key variables that contribute to educator (i.e. teachers and site leaders) well-being. We will create ASELA to not only meet this aim, but also provide targeted insights to educators in a way that also affirms the various identities they hold across different contexts (e.g., race, ethnicity, gender, content expert, special educator, administrator, community resident, etc).
Our approach to adult social emotional learning (SEL) prioritizes, supports and enhances educator well-being which impacts key components of the learning environment including but not limited to: school culture, growth and development of staff and faculty, interpersonal relationship building within the school community and young people’s academic and social-emotional development. While the field has seen increased focus on SEL for young people in recent years, far too often this work does not sufficiently support adults in building their own SEL awareness and capacity. Therefore, our aim is to better understand the key variables that contribute to educator (i.e. teachers and site leaders) well-being. We will create ASELA to not only meet this aim, but also provide targeted insights to educators in a way that also affirms the various identities they hold across different contexts (eg., race, ethnicity, gender, content expert, special educator, administrator, community resident, etc). We therefore invite candidates who are passionate about SEL for adults and young people alike, and are deeply committed to its importance in the success of any learning environment.

WHAT ELSE YOU SHOULD KNOW
MindCatcher is an equal opportunity employer. We value having staff who come from communities that are most rewarded by our presence. That said, we know that women and people of color are less likely to express interest in a role if they feel they do not meet each desired qualification and skill listed in an announcement. MindCatcher is most interested in attracting a teammate who will be successful and fulfilled in this role, not just someone who can check off every box. We strongly encourage you to apply even if you’ve had a less traditional path.
